I wish to share with you my experience of ‘A Forest of Lines’.
At the opening of ‘A Forest of Lines’ there was quite a long queue and we waited patiently along with everyone else. As we came closer to the entrance staff/volunteers started to inform us about being ready to enter the installation and due to the high volume of people waiting to access ‘A Forest of Lines’ not to stay too long inside. It all started to become rushed and urgent. Once inside it was very crowded hence making it difficult to move in any particular direction. It was hot and the plants were starting to wilt.
This piece spoke to me of congestion, pollution and the hustle and busyness of todays life.
I was watching a program today and the artist spoke of how art silently spoke about its opposite. This happened to me with ‘A Forest of Lines’
I am impressed with the images of this installation…
This is one experience of many…or perhaps this was the intended experience????
I would of preferred to have been told it be best to come back later and state the conditions than to be rushed through.
